Oper Frankfurt
At the large public viewing event in front of Frankfurt´s Alte Oper, we provided excellent sound quality and impressive images. With a live broadcast in June from the Grand Hall to Opernplatz, almost three thousand people from the city enjoyed Beethoven´s music for free at the highest quality of sound and image.
LED screen & camera technology
During the live broadcast, seven cameras provided an optimal view of the interior of the concert hall, transmitting images to our 50m² LED screen with a fine pixel pitch of 5.9mm.

On the road on Germany
Three of the seven cameras were manned, while four were remotely controlled. It was important for them to discuss camera settings, editing, and image settings with the score reader and the vision mixer in advance, based on the planning pieces, and to program them accordingly. Lenses with 90 x magnification ensured that the audience could follow even the smallest movements of the star pianists – a real highlight for many. The signal routing from the Alte Oper was implemented both redundantly using analog and digital technology and, for safety reasons, was routed from the building to the square via various routes. An electronic reporting team was on site all day to document the event and, as early as midday, to record the first audience comments for the evening´s intro.
Great importance was also placed on good sound, ensuring the entire area of the Opernplatz was evenly covered without compromising on sound quality. We decided to collaborate with the renowned sound designer Wolfgang “SCHABBACH,” who chose three Line Arroytowers for this project.
The Alte Oper Frankfurt´s goal of inspiring people to enjoy classical music has once again been a complete success. We are especially pleased that we managed to give the topic of sound its due attention. Because good sound is teamwork: The excellent and seamless collaboration between the Alte Oper´s technical services and the sound team on the square ultimately resulted in a natural sound experience, praised by many listeners, of a magnificient classical concert featuring world-class artists.
