Start of the Tour de France
To be technically prepared for a high volume of visitors, we analyzed the sound system and LED screen deployment requirements for the hotspots in advance with the technical and logistic manager, Rainer Schüler, and his colleague Thomas Krämer from the City of Düsseldorf.
Our team of twenty LE, sound, control, and signal experts ensured that every fan was reached both visually and acoustically at the seven locations in the district. Seven mobile LED systems ranging in size from 15 to 50m² were used. The core of the project was the central video control and playback of all video walls. This was done via an internal and encrypted DVB-T network directly from the TV compound at the Düsseldorf Trade Fair Center. A 50-meter-high tower with a central microwave antenna was used. Each video wall featured a DVB-T receiver plus backup, which enabled each wall to receive live images from RT1, ARD and Saarländischer Rundfunk. In addition, general information about the event and safety instructions were broadcast centrally or, if necessary, sent individually only to the relevant location.
