    Oper Frankfurt

At the large public viewing event in front of Frankfurt´s Alte Oper, we provided excellent sound quality and impressive images. With a live broadcast in June from the Grand Hall to Opernplatz, almost three thousand people from the city enjoyed Beethoven´s music for free at the highest quality of sound and image.

    LED screen & camera technology

During the live broadcast, seven cameras provided an optimal view of the interior of the concert hall, transmitting images to our 50m² LED screen with a fine pixel pitch of 5.9mm.

    On the road on Germany

Three of the seven cameras were manned, while four were remotely controlled. It was important for them to discuss camera settings, editing, and image settings with the score reader and the vision mixer in advance, based on the planning pieces, and to program them accordingly. Lenses with 90 x magnification ensured that the audience could follow even the smallest movements of the star pianists – a real highlight for many. The signal routing from the Alte Oper was implemented both redundantly using analog and digital technology and, for safety reasons, was routed from the building to the square via various routes. An electronic reporting team was on site all day to document the event and, as early as midday, to record the first audience comments for the evening´s intro.

Great importance was also placed on good sound, ensuring the entire area of the Opernplatz was evenly covered without compromising on sound quality. We decided to collaborate with the renowned sound designer Wolfgang “SCHABBACH,” who chose three Line Arroytowers for this project.

Oliver Hahn, Account Director Sales & Event
The Alte Oper Frankfurt´s goal of inspiring people to enjoy classical music has once again been a complete success. We are especially pleased that we managed to give the topic of sound its due attention. Because good sound is teamwork: The excellent and seamless collaboration between the Alte Oper´s technical services and the sound team on the square ultimately resulted in a natural sound experience, praised by many listeners, of a magnificient classical concert featuring world-class artists.

During the European Athletics Champoinships in Berlin, we equipped both the Olympic Stadium and Breitscheidplatz, the official venues of the European Championships, with various LED screens. Our brand-new UPAD III H5 was used, among others.

    Visual highlight: LED presentation gate

At Berlin´s Olympic Stadium, we installed a total area of 550m² (10mm pixel pitch) and two scren boxes, each with 26m² of LED surface. At Breitscheidplatz, we also deployed the new UPAD III H5 LED modules in various versions, each with 50m², 40m², and 16.5m².

    TECHNOLOGY USED

    • 2x 275m² hanging LED screen in 32:9 format
    • LED gate made of 4.9mm outdoor material
    • Mobile backdrop
    • 3x Upad III H5 screens with 5.9mm pixel pitch in the city center

    Accept challenges and find solutions

Before the start of the European Championships, the organizers expressed their desire to capture the atmosphere with an oversized 32:9 format. While at the last World Athletics Championships, the Marathon Gate was covered with a 250m² video screen, this time they wantedto leave the gate open for visual and architectural reasons. Since the loads for a video wall measuring up to 300m² were too great, considering all the static forces, we investigated the possibility of a suspended version in the stadium roof. After consulting with roof an structural engineers and providing evidence of the wind force influence in the video system, we received approval for the suspended installation of two 275m² 32:9 video walls.

We installed a unique LED installation in the only access to the interior of the stadium – the Marathon Gate. Here, we constructed an LED presentation gate. It consisted of a 4.9mm outdoor LED video wall in the shape of a goal frame and a 16:9 backdrop video wall behind it, which could be raised upwards using a motor as needed. This was necessary to ensure access for emergency personnel at all times and to allow the entry and exit of technical equipment.

European Mile brings stadium feeling to Berlin city centre

In addition to the athletic competition venue in the stadium, the European Mile at Breitscheidplatz was another event location in central Berlin. The organizers built a small public stadium for the city center, bringing the European Athletics Championships even closer to Berliners. Here, we deployed three additional UPAD III H5 video walls with a 5.9mm pixel pitch. These served as stage backdrops, for public viewing of the Berlin stadium and the European Games in Glasgow, and also showed the stage action with music or interviews to the thousands of visitors.

Frank Kowalski, Managing Director of Berlin European Athletics Championships 2018 GmbH
The key success factors of the European Championships were innovative information management and perfect interaction between spectators and athletes. This was impressively achieved thanks to the expert advice of the LED experts at Screen Visions, already during the conception phase, and then through the professional implementation of two additive 275sqm LED walls in the roof of the Olympic Stadium.

    Grand Prix of Germany

We deployed several mobile video walls for Formula 1.

For the first time, the largest mobile video wall – the Black Pearl – was used. The LED screen has an avtive screen area of 144 suqare meters, capable of displaying high-resolution content up to 4K. The image resolution of 4.8 millimeters is unique in this field, allowing even short viewing distances. At the Hockenheimring, the screen was used with two additional 81 square meters video walls in the pre-start area of the racetrack.

We also used our Upad equipment again. The LED modules were used on the 4 x 21 square meter display tower and on two screens in the paddocks, each measurng 26 square meters and 30 square meters.

we round off the package with two additional mobile video walls, each with a scren area of 60 square meters and 100 square meters.

We were commissioned by the Hockenheimring as the general contractir for the construction of  a unique display tower.

During the planning phase, determining the required height of the display tower was crucial. The result is a 21.8-meter-high display tower with four LED walls, each with a 3 x 10-meter display area, providing the audience with live information about the drivers, teams, and the latest Formula 1 news.

Start of the Tour de France

To be technically prepared for a high volume of visitors, we analyzed the sound system and LED screen deployment requirements for the hotspots in advance with the technical and logistic manager, Rainer Schüler, and his colleague Thomas Krämer from the City of Düsseldorf.

Our team of twenty LE, sound, control, and signal experts ensured that every fan was reached both visually and acoustically at the seven locations in the district. Seven mobile LED systems ranging in size from 15 to 50m² were used. The core of the project was the central video control and playback of all video walls. This was done via an internal and encrypted DVB-T network directly from the TV compound at the Düsseldorf Trade Fair Center. A 50-meter-high tower with a central microwave antenna was used. Each video wall featured a DVB-T receiver plus backup, which enabled each wall to receive live images from RT1, ARD and Saarländischer Rundfunk. In addition, general information about the event and safety instructions were broadcast centrally or, if necessary, sent individually only to the relevant location.
